Fighting for Arizona
Dad of 6, Independently Ranked Arizona’s Most Effective Lawmaker
Juan grew up right here in Arizona’s 6th congressional district, and has dedicated his career to our community. Now representing us in Congress, he’s never forgotten where he came from.
As an immigrant American, Juan’s love of country and patriotism were born out of his upbringing in a working-class family. His parents instilled in him conservative values, a strong work ethic, and an optimistic can-do attitude.
Juan was the first from his family to achieve a higher education, graduating from Pima Community College and the University of Arizona – earning scholarships to pay for college.
Whether it was advocating for lower taxes and lighter regulations on behalf of small business owners to the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, or leading efforts around border security and international trade for the state of Arizona – Juan’s professional career has been focused on making life better in Arizona.
In 2022, Juan was elected to represent us in the United States Congress – becoming the first naturalized American citizen from Mexico elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in Arizona’s history.
Juan serves on the Appropriations and Veterans’ Affairs committees, and fights for lower taxes, fiscal responsibility and bringing more of our tax dollars back to Arizona to invest in things that matter – like roads, schools and water infrastructure. Juan also works tirelessly on behalf of the over 70,000 veterans who call our district home.
In 2025, Juan was named one of the most effective members of the House of Representatives during his first term in the 118th Congress, according to the nonpartisan Center for Effective Lawmaking. That makes him Arizona’s most effective lawmaker.
Juan was also recognized as the most bipartisan member from Arizona in the U.S. House by the nonpartisan Lugar Center.
Juan and Laura value faith, life and family as the proud parents of six active kids, who they are raising in Tucson. Juan’s favorite activities include coaching his kids’ flag football teams and also volunteering in his church.
