Amalgamated Transit Union Backs Ciscomani to Keep Arizona Moving

TUCSON - The men and women who keep America moving are backing Congressman Juan Ciscomani for re-election. The Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), the largest labor union representing transit workers in the United States and Canada, has endorsed Ciscomani for reelection in Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District.

As a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Ciscomani has fought to bring federal infrastructure and transportation investments home to Arizona, helping communities across AZ-06 stay connected, grow and get people where they need to go.

“My dad was a bus driver, so I grew up seeing firsthand the hard work and dedication it takes to keep a community moving. I’m deeply honored to have the support of ATU and the working men and women it represents,” said Congressman Juan Ciscomani. “Transit workers keep Arizona moving every day, and I’ll continue fighting for the workforce, resources and transportation investments they need.”

“As the son of a bus driver, Rep. Juan Ciscomani knows all about the challenges our members face every day. According to the Federal Transit Administration (FTA), transit workers get assaulted on the job more than 16,000 times per year in the U.S., more than 40 times per day. Rep. Ciscomani cosponsored the Bus Operator Safety and Security Act, which requires new buses to be equipped with fully enclosed barriers to keep unauthorized people out of the bus operator workstation. He has also fought hard to retrofit existing buses in Tucson and throughout the country with barriers. Thanks to the Congressman’s efforts, bus drivers and riders across the country will soon be safer. We are proud to endorse Rep. ATU represents more than 200,000 transit, school bus and over-the-road bus workers across the United States and Canada.
