Ciscomani Calls For Debate In Spanish, In District

Voters across the district should hear from the candidates in both languages

TUCSON – To ensure all constituents have the opportunity to be fully informed, Congressman Juan Ciscomani is calling for a Spanish-language debate with his opponent in Congressional District 6 in Arizona.

With 26% of the population in Arizona's 6th Congressional District being Hispanic, Ciscomani highlights the importance of engaging this large part of our community in their native language. Since Ciscomani first ran for this seat in 2022 and now running for re-election in 2024, he has delivered ads and communicated directly with the Spanish-speaking population with the same message as his English ads. And Ciscomani has delivered these messages in Spanish himself.

"As someone who understands the value of direct communication and respects the diversity of our district, I believe it is crucial that our Spanish-speaking communities hear directly from their candidates about the issues that affect their lives," said Ciscomani. "Being a native speaker myself and someone with family members who prefer Spanish, I understand how important it is to communicate directly in Spanish. Unfortunately, my opponent seems to overlook the needs of these constituents, perhaps because she rarely visits or that she does not reside within our district. Every voter deserves the opportunity to hear about proposed policies and understand who truly represents their interests and values before they hit the ballot box this November."

The proposed debate aims to address key topics such as immigration, economic policies, and community safety, providing a platform for both candidates to present their visions to Spanish speakers, catering specifically to the diverse voter base of our Spanish-speaking communities. This approach ensures that all constituents, especially those who prefer Spanish, can fully engage with the issues that impact their lives directly.

In addition, Ciscomani has requested that the Clean Elections debate for Arizona’s 6th congressional district on October 7, 2024, be moved to a new date in respect of the first anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel. There are many in the Jewish community throughout the district that look forward to engaging in the civics process, and a new date would ensure all can.

The Ciscomani campaign awaits a response from the Engel for Arizona campaign for the Spanish debate.
